I was going through tough times in my life as the startup which I was working for got shut down due to unknown reasons. I was already under the huge burden of various loans and also had to contribute towards the day to day expenses of my home. I was literally shattered! There was even a point when I felt like leaving everything and move to a different location where I can spend my life alone, I just wanted to run away from everything.
I was working as a front-end developer in my previous company and always enjoyed my job however things were different now. One of my friend recommended that I should learn salesforce as it is the hottest skill in the market today and there are lot of freelance opportunities as well so I started searching for a good training resource for the same. I went through lot of online discussion forums checking various course reviews, read lot of blogs and even searched for a private tutor in my locality and also joined a demo class at the local computer training Institute but it was all useless. Someone also recommended me Udemy but the feedback which I received was that the courses there are very shallow and are not suitable for someone in a situation I was. I needed a course with practical approach so that I can immediately start applying my skills after completing the course. Then I found getskillsfast and contacted them through the support page explaining them about my situation. I was amazed to see that they immediately responded to my query and also offered me a 80% discount coupon.
When I heard of salesforce from my friends, I didn’t had much idea about it and till that date I was thinking that it is actually for sales and marketing professionals. While going through the tough times I learned one great lesson of life that in the IT industry it is imperative to always learn new skills and upgrade your self on regular basis. I was clueless about the job opportunities salesforce provides and the capabilities of the platform prior to taking this course.
So leaving everything to God, I started going through the tutorials. I had always preferred learning from videos and even during my graduation I used to learn a lot from YouTube. The salesforce administration course at get skills fast eased my transition into salesforce and one thing I liked the most is that the course was completely hands-on step-by-step. I’ve always hated reading through PDFs or PPT’s as I always felt sleepy after those.
If you have not been trained properly, then using salesforce as a beginner can be a huge daunting task because it is very vast. This course exponentially reduced the amount of time and effort required to master salesforce, providing the most efficient tutorials with hands-on approach. I always felt like as if I’m sitting in a live classroom and everything is being demonstrated in front of me. The admin course increased my hunger for learning more and more about salesforce but at this point the first thing which I wanted was a job. I started giving interviews side-by-side and would always note down the questions being asked. I kept learning, kept experimenting, and re watched the complete course twice.
I was able to crack my seventh interview and successfully got a job with a small startup nearby. I was actually not looking for big companies as I knew that the knowledge which I can gain at a startup would be much better than a multinational company.
The instructor also gave me a very nice advice that I should create my profile at some freelancing job portals and start offering my services for the free or I should become active at LinkedIn and Google groups to search for freelancing opportunity’s because that will help me with both learning and money as well.
Next important thing which I did was I attended a local Meetup and I would recommend every salesforce professional to do the same, because there I came to know that there our lot of small companies in the nearby area which use salesforce and are looking for a salesforce professional like me to manage their day to day small tasks in salesforce. After attending the Meetup when I went back to my home I immediately started googling to search for the contact details of companies nearby who are using salesforce and forwarded them my curriculum vitae. Slowly I started receiving small freelance opportunities from them as well. They preferred me because my per hour rates were low and hiring someone like me saved them a lot of paperwork of creating contracts and nondisclosure agreements etc.
I highly recommend the courses at get skills fast and if you are looking to get your hands dirty with salesforce in true form then get started immediately. My life has changed a lot in past three months and I know one day I will quit my job and start my own salesforce consulting firm.
